WANT TO GAIN TOOLS AND STRATEGIES TO DEVELOP THE MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE? Are you aware that by 2020 all schools will have to deliver compulsory mental health lessons to pupils?  This one-day toolkit training is packed with evidence-based strategies, resources and techniques to build mental health and wellbeing in children and young people. The tools covered in this training can be used and taught explicitly in mental health and wellbeing lessons, PSHE lessons or in support sessions with pupils. The aim of this workshop is to leave practitioners equipped with a range of tools, strategies and resources proven to improve mental health in children and young people.  When applying the tools gained from this workshop in their work, practitioners build on their ability to effectively support children and young people’s ability to develop wellbeing and reduce mental health problems. WORKSHOP CONTENT * Introduction to the positive psychology evidence base underpinning the tools that have been created to support children and young people improve wellbeing. * Explore eight different wellbeing strategies that support the development of positive mental health in children and young people * Learn and practise specific tools and techniques that can be used to help children or young people develop wellbeing * Gain sixteen downloadable, resources and worksheets that can be use directly with children and young people to develop positive mental health. * Develop plans to apply these tools in practice WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL IT MAKE IF I ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP? By the end of the workshop you will * Be able to support children and young people improve mental health. * Feel able to influence a reduction in negative coping strategies being used by children and young people. * Be able to apply proven wellbeing strategies and tools in your work. * Feel more able to address the poor mental health negatively affecting children and young people’s achievement, attainment and success. * Feel confident to use the tools, techniques and strategies to help the children and young people you work with. How many people is the workshop for? We like to keep numbers small so you can really experience our approach and personally benefit from the skills gained during this workshop. This workshop is for participants from several schools and organisations who can take back the learning to disseminate in their schools. Q. I am from primary school is this workshop suitable for me? Yes, this workshop suitable for primary school staff, however the tools are more suited to KS2. Q. I am from a secondary school is this workshop suitable for me? Yes, this workshop suitable for secondary school staf. Q. I'm not from a school but I'm really interested in this workshop, is it suitable for me? Yes, this workshops is relevant for anyone who works with children and young people’s  to enable them to develop positive mental health of children and young people they work with and support. Q. Does this workshop provide tools and strategies for me to use with our children and young people? Yes, the whole purpose of this workshop is to provide a toolkit of recourses for participants to use with children and young people Q. Will this workshop help me support children and young people with their mental health problems? This workshop is designed to enable all participants to develop positive mental health in children and young people, these tools can be used with children and young people who may be struggling with mental health problems, but the focus is on developing health rather than reducing or removing illness. Focusing on mental health will at the very least will help children and young people while they are on any waiting lists for support for mental health problems Q. Will this workshop help me reduce pupil mental health problems in my school/organisation? Yes, as all staff become aware of how they can and do support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, capacity to support pupils increases and many early stage issues are reduced. Q. Does the workshop provide any resources? Yes, this workshop provides participants with a manual for them to make notes on, keep and refer to. We also provide downloadable versions of our workshop resources and video clips in our Learning hub. Links to the download area will be provided at the end of the workshop. Q.
