Halloween in the City is Manchester’s ultimate family-friendly
Halloween celebration, transforming the city centre into a vibrant
playground of spooky fun. At the heart of the event is the iconic MCR Monsters trail—giant, inflatable creatures that loom
from rooftops and peek out of buildings, creating a city-wide art
installation that’s both eerie and enchanting. The event spans
several days in late October and includes a packed weekend of free
activities, live performances, and interactive experiences designed
to thrill visitors of all ages. Highlights include the Walk the Plank monster
procession, where stilt walkers, puppets, and performers parade
through the streets, and the Creepy Carnival , complete
with rides, street food, and circus acts. Families are encouraged
to dress up and take part in dance-offs, costume contests, and
spooky storytelling sessions. With its mix of creativity, community
spirit, and Halloween magic, Halloween in the City has become a
beloved tradition that lights up Manchester with monstrous joy each
autumn.
