This lecture will look at the beginnings of the movie musical with particular focus on the choreographers who shaped the genre. We will look at the works of Busby Berkeley, Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and investigate how these movie makers/choreographers developed their stylistic qualities and personal signatures of creation.
