Friendly and Supportive PUBLIC SPEAKING MEETUP IN BELFAST Want to
overcome your fears of public speaking? Improve your self-confidence?
Hone your communication skills? Or sharpen your ability to think on
the spot? You’ve come to the right place!
Speak Saturday is a chance for you to give an impromptu speech in a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You can speak on a topic of your
choice or the room can suggest a random topic which is free to be
interpreted in your own way. Examples of topics are: hobbies,
favourite movies, childhood dreams, chocolate, summer, what makes you
sad, a lie you've told, etc. If you wish, you are welcome to deliver a
prepared speech. Talks will be timed to 2 mins - please kindly stick
to it so that others will get the same opportunity to give their
speech.
We will start with a warmup followed by two rounds of talks so
everybody gets the chance to practice speaking about different topics.
By the end of each round we will gather general feedback from the
room. Please be constructive and helpful - this is a safe learning
space. If you prefer, you can also message Desy for personal feedback
after the meetup.
We will be in The Book Bar on the 1st Floor at Accidental Theatre. The
nearest train station is Botanic. Please come at 3:45pm for a 4pm
start. Enter from the yellow stage door and use the code 2092, or give
Desy a buzz at 07786713097. There is a lift access in the building.
Tea & coffee will be provided. While this meetup is free of charge, we
will ask for an optional pay-what-you-can contribution towards venue
hire and meetup costs. The suggested contribution is £5 (£3
concession).
