Live tonite present Hyperdawn debut in Belfast, the experimental pop
duo from North Manchester. Following the release of their debut
album Bleach in 2019 they have built a reputation for their distinct,
hands-on approach to music making, using live reel-to-reel tape
processing, electronics and vocals. Often associated with Manchester's
The White Hotel, their recent shows have seen them alongside the likes
of Space Afrika, Tara Clerkin Trio, Ssaliva and feeo. Hyperdawn's
second album Steady received extensive national press attention
including in The Quietus, Electronic Sound, Clash Mag and Crack
Magazine. Regularly aired on BBC 6 Music, including performing a live
session, Steady was named in numerous Best Albums of the Year lists
(The Quietus, Boomkat). The album has gained the attention of industry
figures and prominent musicians, which for example saw Hyperdawn on a
US West Coast tour in Aug 2024 supporting Amen Dunes. Hyperdawn is
Vitalija Glovackyte and Michael Cutting, two composers/producers
making diverse work from semi-improvised live sets to orchestral
commissions from the likes of the London Symphony Orchestra,
Philharmonia Orchestra, Ensemble Intercontemporain and Apartment
House. Individually their work has been performed in venues from the
Royal Festival Hall and Cafe Oto in London to National Sawdust (New
York), and festivals around Europe and North America such as Spor
Festival (Copenhagen), Darmstädter Ferienkurse (Darmstadt) and HCMF
(Huddersfield). "Very few bands actually reimagine pop. Hyperdawn,
however, are entitled to make such a lofty claim.” The Quietus
“We’re as likely to hear pulverized ambience as we are rain-soaked
pop, and in that way the album’s closest relative might be Mica
Levi, who manages to balance on the same precarious tightrope. […]
Very strong essential gear, one of the year’s best late night,
bleary-eyed pop albums” Boomkat "It’s not easy to put your
finger on what Hyperdawn do, but whatever it is, they’re doing it
now better than ever.” Electronic Sound (full-length feature)
“Steady’ continues their rise, expanding Hyperdawn’s sounds
while remaining tethered to their roots. Fragmentary electronics
infused with bass weight.” Clash Mag “Everything here is blurry
and beautifully, tantalisingly out of reach. More please.”
Electronic Sound “The album reads like a weary, extended night bus
journey - plenty of time to think, fret, and ultimately heal.” Juno
