Find out how an agroecological farm grows food for a neighbourhood without agrotoxins...
If you’re curious to learn more about Lauriston Agroecology Farm in north Edinburgh - and especially about the Market Garden - come along to our farm tour.
Lauriston Farm is once again growing food for the surrounding neighbourhoods - a role it had for generations, then completely lost. Here, as elsewhere, in a short time, locally grown fresh food went from an everyday item to a rarity - unaffordable or out of reach to many people. We can change that using agroecology.
Agroecology (agriculture + ecology) means, of course, no pesticides, artificial fertilisers or other agrotoxins. It also means bringing back community ownership of the food system, bringing back people to the land, bringing back landwork skills where they have been lost. Bringing farming back into right relationship with the living world.
On this tour, we will share what this looks like in practice here at Lauriston Farm, at this moment in time.
You’ll hear from the Market Garden growers and some of the rest of the team - sharing what we’ve done, why we’ve done it, and what we've learned so far
Who is This For?
We welcome all curious visitors, including total newcomers with no previous knowledge about farming, as well as farmers and growers and anyone interested in a career or volunteering in this type of work. The tour is aimed at adults or interested young people (younger children also welcome if it would be their idea of a good time!)
About Solidarity Ticket Pricing
We offer a standard ticket price, plus an option to contribute more if you can afford it, and a discounted price for those who need it. Choosing to pay the higher Solidarity rate supports the farm and helps make the event accessible to those who can't afford the standard ticket price. We suggest considering this if you are able to meet your needs with money to spare. Please take the discounted ticket if you need to.
