Talwin Morris – Art Nouveau Bindings with Archie MacSporran

Talwin Morris was art director of the Glasgow-based publishers, Blackie and Son, from 1893-1909 and was part of a flourishing Glasgow art scene which included Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Margaret Macdonald, Frances Macdonald and Herbert McNair. He is best known for his very distinctive art nouveau Glasgow style book cover designs. Advocate Archie MacSporran’s talk will be an illustrated appreciation of his book designs, explaining his unique design features and influences and will also touch on his life and his other art and furniture designs.
