Join us for a unique after-hours event focused on the incredible work
of John AKOMFRAH, whose film Mimesis: African Soldier is screening in
our Main Gallery now.With a programme of talks, workshops and
performance, there will be something for everyone:
5.40pm and 6.53pm - Screenings of John Akomfrah's Mimesis: African
Soldier (73 mins)
6pm - Katie Bruce, Producer/Curator at GoMA and Nelson Cummins,
Curator of Legacies of Slavery and Empire at Glasgow Life Museums, in
conversation.
7pm - Ashanti Harris, visual artist. An interactive performance
responding to the themes of John Akomfrah's Mimesis: African Soldier.
5.30-8pm - Drop-in events led by the GoMA learning team and the
Intercultural Youth Group, with handling sessions and a weaving
workshop, all ages welcome.

Please note that, while there are no age restrictions for the
activities, the film work Mimesis: African Soldier is not recommended
for young children and that some visitors may find the content of the
film upsetting. The film includes racist imagery and scenes of war,
mass graves, and fallen soldiers and animals.
