Course Outline:
These courses are aimed at raising awareness of sensory loss to workers in Third Sector organisations wthin the Greater Glasgow & Clyde region.. Run as two half day sessions, one session focusses on visual impairment awareness and one on hearing impairment awareness.
The course objectives for the training on “A Sense of Blindness and Sight Loss” are:
To explain the certification and registration process including the referral pathway for persons who are blind/visually impaired.
To explain the effects of several common eye conditions
To inform of effective communication
To inform and demonstrate guiding skills when providing mobility support to an individual who is blind/ visually impaired
The course objectives for the training on “A Sense of Deafness, Hearing Loss and Deafblindness” are:
To inform of the referral pathways in order to obtain services and support
To inform of the different types of hearing loss
To recognize signs that a person might be deaf
To inform of effective communication skills
To demonstrate several methods of communication
Action on Hearing Loss and Visibility include in the outcomes of the training the following:-
Attendees will be able to share and disseminate their learning with their colleagues
Champions will be identified as a way of disseminating the training more widely within their organizations
Certificates will be issused (emailed or hard copy) after completion of evaluation form, post-event

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is on-site metered partking, or 2 hours with Morrisons car park & an hour for Lidl. Alternatively there are excellent public transport links to Partick train & subway station as well as local buses. Nearest Park & Ride is Kelvinbridge.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
Yes, but please contact Action on Hearing Loss Scotland to notify change of delegate. This is so we know whom to send the post-course evaluation form & certificate.
Is there a charge for a no-show?
Following on from the point above; Please note in the event of a no-show (with no prior notice) that from January 2020 onwards, organisers will be obliged to make a £20 donation per delegate to each charity to cover administrative fees.
