Individual & Board Performance

Session led byff6600;"> David Milton, Shirlaws Coaching

Leadership is one of the most studied, and least understood social phenomena. Everyone shares opinions on what they think the best methods & tactics are, and many leaders are left wondering what advice will actually make a tangible difference come Monday morning.

From 2013-2015, the business psychology department of Heriot-Watt University carried out a piece of empirical research into exactly what makes excellent charity leadership and how this propels organisational growth.

The outcomes arising from that research have been proven to drive results across a broad range of organisations. This masterclass series will take leaders through this research framework, teaching them how to apply it to their own charity.

The masterclass series is designed specifically for leaders that are looking to accelerate the growth of their charitable impact & revenue income. The context for each workshop is pragmatism. Attendees that will gain the most value are those that feel they are approaching a key juncture in their organisation’s journey and are looking for practical strategies to take the next step. Every attendee will leave these masterclass workshops with a tailored plan that can be applied to directly improve performance.

Masterclass 3: Individual & Board Performance

This workshop explores how to analyse individual & board performance. It provides a structure to turn governance from a legal & moral obligation into a practise that unleashes the latent energy in a charity.

Attendees that will gain the most value from this workshop are leaders that are looking to ‘break the cycle’ from their current reality and carve out a more productive and effective leadership team.

Outcomes - Increasing board performance and commitment, attracting and retaining better leaders and board members, structuring strategic governance to maximise results, increasing the ownership felt by leaders and the responsibility taken by individuals.

5 October 10:00 - 14:00, Edinburgh

This final workshop specifically focuses on how our charities are structured. We will analyse methods that improve internal efficiency, increase staff/volunteer engagement and ultimately individual contribution.

Attendees that will gain the most value from this workshop are leaders who feel they are struggling to continually engage restless talent and/or leaders who feel that their staff/boards are not as motivated as they could be.
