Civil Service 'Success Profiles - Understanding Strengths'
Success Profiles is the new system for recruitment and selection, which replaces the old Civil Service Competency Framework (in use since 2012) for selection purposes.
Success Profiles contains 5 elements, which managers can choose from when deciding how to select for a vacancy, much of which is very similar to the existing system. The significant change of approach comes where managers choose to use the Strengths element. The principle behind Strengths is to look at those things we do regularly, do well and that motivate us. As well as measuring evidence of performance, Strengths based assessment looks at engagement and motivation. There is a new Civil Service Strengths Dictionary setting out the 36 different Strengths that will be used across the organisation.
FDA Learn is offering a new one-day course on Understanding Strengths delivered by New Sparks CIC. This course builds on previous work training civil servants to navigate selection processes based on the Civil Service Competency Framework as well as the Introduction to Success Profiles sessions.
The day will offer:
• An understanding of Strengths within the new Success Profiles system
• Familiarity with the Strengths Dictionary
• Insight into how Strengths may be used in selection
• An awareness of how Strengths can be measured and scored
• A look at preparing for blended interviews which will incorporate Strengths
The presenter Chris Park has worked with Government partners and the FDA for 10 years delivering various offers for over 20 Government departments and agencies. She is a CS ‘trained trainer’ for the new success profiles, and a qualified/accredited trainer in psychometric testing, personality tests and emotional intelligence. Chris is also an assessor, interviewer and Quality Assurance Co-Ordinator (QAC) for CS Fast Stream and other public sector development programmes.
