The Athens Marathon, officially known as “
Athens Marathon. The Authentic
” is scheduled for
Sunday, 8 November 2026
, following the historic route from
Marathon to Athens
and concluding at the
Panathenaic Stadium
in the Greek capital. This course is recognized as the original marathon route and continues to be a central reference point in international long-distance running.

In addition to the main event, the
42.195 km Marathon
, the Athens Marathon weekend also includes officially listed race categories: a
10 km Road Race
, a
5 km Road Race
, a
1.2 km Kids’ Race
and the
Universities Night Run
. All race distances finish at the
Panathenaic Stadium
, creating a unified finish line for participants across categories. The courses are certified under international road race standards and organized by the
Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS)
, which supervises all race operations, logistics, and compliance with official athletics regulations.

Race Schedule:

Saturday, November 7, 2026:

• 5km Road Race COSMOTE TELEKOM: Begins at 5:00 PM from Vas. Amalias Avenue (at the level of Bodossaki Hall) and concludes at the historic Panathenaic Stadium.​
• 5km Universities Night Run OPAP: Starts at 7:15 PM from the same location, finishing at the Panathenaic Stadium.​

Sunday, November 8, 2026:

• Marathon Race: Starts at 9:00 AM from the town of Marathon, tracing the legendary route to the Panathenaic Stadium.​
• 10km Road Race allwyn: Starts at 8:15 AM from Vas. Amalias Avenue (at the level of Bodossaki Hall) and ends at the Panathenaic Stadium.​
• Kids Race 1.2km COSMOTE: Begins at 10:20 AM from Vas. Sofias Avenue (at the level of the Parliament – Flower Market) and finishes at the Panathenaic Stadium.

Thousands of runners from all over the world are expected to participate in every year’s race. Apart from the sporting experience, they will have the chance to enjoy the traditional Greek hospitality, discover the fascinating landscape of our country and explore a city which is constantly improving its standards.
