They’re Back!
After what seems like an eternity, The Mere Mortals have reformed and are looking!!! and sounding better than ever.
Since forming back in ‘87, The Mere Mortals enjoyed a heavy touring schedule, playing the pubs, clubs & summer festivals of the midlands, along with gigs further afield in Tralee, Limerick, Galway & Dublin. Their biggest gig was the first Feile festival in 1990, sharing the Main Stage with The Stunning, The Sawdoctors and Van Morrison. They also played at Poulaphouca House in August 1990 supporting Bob Geldolf and The Vegetarians of Love.
The band self-released their debut single in 1991. A video was made for the A-side "Travelling On" which was played on RTE's Sunday morning music programme The Beat Box. It entered the Irish charts in June 1991 peaking at #11. This lead to an appearance on Shay Healy's "Nighthawks".
Other crowd favourites include Jodi, Tell Me, Here I Am, Nicaragua, Once Upon a Time, Off Chance and Jackboot
Along with some of these crowd pleasers, the lads are launching plenty of new material on their forthcoming tour with songs such as Flying Too Close To Earth, Sickness of the Head, Life Support Machine, Why Can’t I Believe and C’mon.
