5th Aug 2018, Sunday - 10am to 1pm: BUDDHISM IN A NUTSHELL – an
Introduction to BUDDHISM COURSEThis is an introductory course that
provides a general overview of basic Buddhist principles and concepts
for complete beginners. Some of the topics to be covered include:
1. Life story of Shakyamuni Buddha – similarities of Buddha’s life
to ours and how Buddha answered the “Meaning of life” questions
that we all have.
2. The Four Noble Truths – first teachings given by the Buddha.
3. Introduction to basic meditation techniques – including the
seven-point meditation sitting posture, meditation on the counting the
breath and bare attention meditation.
4. Overview of the Buddhist path and how to practise it in a
systematic way etc.
In this coming session,
· There will be a meditation practice on counting the breath
· A brief recap of the first two Noble Truths and the third and
fourth Noble Truths to be covered in more details
· There will also be a short break in between where tea and snacks
will be provided. All are welcome!
The course will be conducted by Venerable Gyalten Rabten. Born and
raised in Singapore, Venerable Rabten is one of our senior Teachers at
CKSL from the Sera Jey Monastery in Bylakuppe (Karnataka).
