Baadaran SUNSET HIKE & Wine TASTINGThis sunset adventure will lead us to a hidden gem in one of Lebanon’s finest ecotourism destinations: the Shouf region. We’ll be heading to El Khreibe, located in the transition zone of the Shouf Biosphere Reserve—Lebanon’s largest nature reserve. We’d like to start by expressing our heartfelt gratitude to the Shouf Reserve team for their commitment to supporting surrounding villages, particularly through the development and maintenance of new hiking trails. A special thanks also goes to the local guides who generously share their time, effort, and deep knowledge of the region. Our hike will be divided into two levels: • Level 2 (Easy): A relaxed walk to explore the charming old town of Baadaran and the site of the old airport. Afterwards, a short bus ride will take us to a guesthouse to unwind, take in the view, and enjoy a glass of wine. • Level 4 (Moderate to Easy): A scenic hike of approximately 7 km. We’ll all begin the hike together, making our way to the Khreibe water source. From there, we’ll continue toward an old castle associated with the historic Jumblat family—one of the region’s most prominent families. The castle is notable for its traditional stone chimneys, characteristic of the area’s architecture. Next, we’ll head to the now-inactive Baadaran airport. From the nearby Balayet area, we’ll enjoy one of the most stunning panoramic views in the Shouf—an impressive 360-degree vista that’s perfect for watching the sunset. After the hike, we’ll travel by bus to a local guesthouse and campsite, where a homemade dinner awaits. There, we’ll also have the chance to taste a unique wine from a boutique winery before heading back to Beirut. Best regards, Vamos Todos BAADARAN, CHOUF Randonnée au coucher du soleil et tournée de vin Cette aventure au coucher du soleil nous mènera vers un joyau caché dans l’une des plus belles destinations d’écotourisme du Liban : la région du Chouf. Nous nous dirigerons vers El Khreibe, située dans la zone de transition de la Réserve de Biosphère du Chouf — la plus grande réserve naturelle du Liban. Nous tenons à commencer par remercier chaleureusement l’équipe de la Réserve du Chouf pour son engagement envers les villages environnants, notamment à travers le développement et l’entretien de nouveaux sentiers de randonnée. Un grand merci également aux guides locaux, qui partagent généreusement leur temps, leurs efforts et leur grande connaissance de la région. La randonnée sera divisée en deux niveaux : • Niveau 2 (Facile) : Une promenade tranquille à la découverte de l’ancien village de Baadaran et de son ancien aéroport. Ensuite, un court trajet en bus nous emmènera à une maison d’hôtes pour nous détendre, profiter de la vue et savourer un verre de vin. • Niveau 4 (Modéré à Facile) : Une randonnée panoramique d’environ 7 km. Nous commencerons tous ensemble en direction de la source d’eau de Khreibe. De là, nous poursuivrons vers un ancien château lié à la famille Joumblatt — l’une des familles les plus influentes de la région. Ce château se distingue par ses cheminées en pierre typiques de l’architecture locale. Nous continuerons ensuite vers l’ancien aéroport de Baadaran, aujourd’hui inactif. Depuis la zone voisine de Balayet, nous profiterons d’une vue panoramique spectaculaire à 360° sur la région du Chouf — un lieu idéal pour admirer un magnifique coucher de soleil. Après la randonnée, nous prendrons le bus vers une maison d’hôtes et un camping où un délicieux dîner fait maison nous attendra. Nous aurons également l’occasion de déguster un vin spécial provenant d’un petit domaine viticole, avant de retourner à Beyrouth.
