In this unique course you will master shooting MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY! All
of our courses are designed for all camera types and skill levels. We
tailor each course to fit our students' interests and needs. We will
meet our guests at the entrance of the Vallarta Botanical Garden at
10:00 am and walk to the La Llorona covered bridge for our
introduction. We will have a brief lecture on settings and equipment
as well as a lighting and white balance demonstration. Admission to
the Vallarta Botanical Garden is included in the course fees.
Transportation is not included, please contact us for directions via
bus.
As we explore the Orchid Conservatory, Rhododendron and Tropical
Plants Houses, we will practice shooting assignments on subjects like
composition, depth-of-field and high key/ low key images. In each
location we will discuss the technique and students will shoot in real
time while receiving feed back from the instructor. Students should
expect to take many photos and have additional batteries and memory
cards. You are encouraged to bring a macro lens, though telephoto
lenses or prime lenses can also produce great results. If you have a
modified or macro flash, feel free to bring this as well. Regardless
of your amount or type of equipment you will learn how to get the best
macro results!
Students will also learn information on focus modes, ISO, histograms,
focal lengths and lenses, and how to compensate for environmental
conditions including lighting and weather, We will wrap up the lesson
in the butterfly garden practicing continuous focus and fast shutter
speeds.
Our Macro Workshop takes place from 10am to 12pm. We will then take a
short 15 min break before meeting in the Restaurant for our Food
Photography Workshop. This workshop is 1 hour long and will teach you
how to light, compose and style the perfect food photography. Practice
using diffusers and reflectors as well as modified flashes to create a
flattering light and eliminate harsh shadows.
Each student will have the opportunity to photograph their own plate
as well as that of the instructors, other participating students, or
your non-photography guests! As food is not included in the course
price, whatever you choose to order is up to you. This provides no
limits to what you can photograph and will provide you a whole menu of
variety of cuisine for both your dining delight and subject matter for
your camera lenses.
The Vallarta Botanical Garden is a jewel of the Puerto Vallarta region
beaming with nature, information and culture. Your admission to the
Garden will cover you for the entire day (usually open from 9 am to 6
pm), so you can continue exploring even after the workshop.
