Chinese New Year festivities often involve the practice of many
traditions – one of which is the tossing of the _yu sheng_ for
good fortune. “Lo Hei” in Cantonese, where 捞 “lo” (literally
mixing) means “tossing up good fortune”, refers to the ritual
adopted in Singapore of tossing the y_u sheng_ and saying of
auspicious phrases before eating it. It is popularly believed that the
higher the toss, the better your prospects and fortune in the year
ahead.

According to the CHINESE HOROSCOPE CALENDAR, 2018 is the Male Earth
Dog year. Brown is connected to the earth. Therefore, 2018 is also
called the year of the Brown Dog
Male Earth is connected to the mountain. Dog mainly contains Male
Earth with little Metal and Fire. The sign of 2018 Male Earth Dog year
is two mountains sit side by side or another mountain beyond a
mountain. That will be a strong Earth. People will focus on real
estate, agriculture, environment, territory integrity or religious,
spiritual area.
