Kranji Marshes hike to Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserve

Kranji Marshes is an area of low-lying wetland that has been carefully restored by NParks and URA to protect the species residing in this unique environment. A variety of factors were taken into consideration and each enhancement effort will essentially facilitate the marsh birds and other wetland-dependent creatures to thrive naturally. Only 8 ha are granted public access. WHAT'S THE PLAN ? Depending our pace, my plan is to complete the both RESERVES : both RESERVES ARE NOT LOCATED SIDE-by-side ! _The is a hike of ~ 5.3 km [to/back] along the narrow Neo Tew Rd [be careful on this as there is no __pedestrian path]_ PACK YOUR LUNCH ! We will take more than a morning to complete both. Pack your lunch & we will eat it in a cozy unique spot inside Sungai Buloh Wetland Reserve. Estimated time to be back to MRT ~~ 3 pm --------------------------------------------------------------- WHO IS SUITABLE ? Suitable for regular walker / hikers; begineers who dont mind the longer distance challenge can also join. Be prepared for maybe 12 -14 km or more of walking by the time we end. NOTE : There will be no sweepers - you are to keep pace with your front man Or find your own way out if you're lost. Would be challenging for young kids - esp the 5.3 km of walk on narrow road. The wetlands of Sungei Buloh are a dream come true for keen nature lovers. At this sprawling 87-hectare ecological site, you can catch migratory birds escaping the cold on their way to the warmer climes of Australia – with some having come as far away as Siberia. Elsewhere, crabs, mudskippers and mud lobsters can be found in their natural habitats, and viewed from a distance at observation posts that dot the park. MUST BRING ITEMS ! At least 1.5 - 2 liters of water, sunblock, rain gears, sun protection accessories, snack / energy bars ....... Ez-link card. Only one SBS bus to get to as near to our start point. Must wear toe-covered shoe. (hiking sandal is fine) As usual, please have a good breakfast. What if it rains ? Unless its thunderstorm & lighting, this trek is rain or shine event.
