Hike 2 mountains in 1 trip to CAMERON HIGHLANDS, famous for the mossy
forests and cooling weather, one of Malaysia's largest hill-station!
Cameron Highlands is Malaysia's largest hill-station, a scenic place
famous for its tea plantations, fantastic cool weather and mossy
forests. There are many different trails in Cameron Highlands, but
most people are attracted to the mossy forests.
Therefore, we will hike to Gunung Irau (2,110m) which is famous for
the mossy forest trail as the priority. However, the hike to the
summit of Irau is dependent on the trail condition, if not we can only
hike to Mini Irau (2,050m). Since we have already travelled so far, we
might as well do another hike! The plan is to do another sunrise hike
the next day, most likely Gunung Siku (1,916m)/ Brinchang Barat
(2,030m). So we'll complete 2 hikes in 1 trip!
There are a wide range of flora and fauna in Cameron Highlands, a
fascinating kaleidoscope of orchids, moss gardens, peculiar shrubs and
pitcher plants. The hikes are less focused on the summit scenery, and
more about the diverse and unique range of flora on the trail.
The trail is often known to be muddy, so be prepared for it (goodbye
shoes)! The 2nd hike is optional, so if you wish to sleep in, I won't
stop you!
Do note that there is a limit to the number of hikers (60 per day
apparently), so we will need to apply the permits in advance, at least
a month ahead ideally.
Who is this for?
==> Love the forest fauna and experience the mossy forest!
==> Love mud (or you forced to love it either way)
==> Wish to do a 2,000m mountain
==> Experience a cooler temperature in Malaysia
==> Challenge yourself by hiking 2 hikes in 1 trip
==> Multiple hikes without camping
Difficulty/ Fitness Level
The trail is through the forest and is known to be quite slippery,
muddy, and full of branches and roots. You have to be prepared to use
your hands and get down and dirty. However, the hikes are not
extremely long (around 3h one-way), and not technically difficult,
with some rope sections.
A good fitness level or mental perseverance is required to do the 2
hikes on 1 trip. If not, Gunung Irau should be doable for most people.
Like most hikes, it is definitely going to be challenging and tiring,
but doable even if you have little experience hiking, as long as you
are open minded, embrace challenges and have some base fitness and
mental endurance.
For accommodation, I have 2 choices in mind. It is not part of the
pricing to allow flexibility for it. We can split into 2 groups for
the accommodation according to comfort level/budget of the group.
To confirm, do RSVP and send me a whatsapp message! A Whatsapp
group/info-session will be set up. A minimum of 10 pax is needed for
this trip to go ahead. Your place is only confirmed once payment is
made.
