Spend an evening with the world renowned Berlin State Opera Children's Choir as they stop at Singapore as part of their SEA tour.
The renowned Children’s Choir of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Berlin State Opera) has sung with Berlin's top opera houses and other institutions within and outside of Berlin.
Winner of the "die Gold medallion" at the Siauliai Cantat International Competition in Lithuania in 2013, the multi-award winning Berlin State Children's Choir has also won the 1st prize (“with outstanding success”) at the Country-Competition in Berlin. It went on to compete in the 2014 German Choir Competition in Weimar. In May 2015, the choir was awarded 2 Gold medallions at the 4th International Choir Festival in Hoi An, Vietnam as well as the Conductors Prize ( Vinzenz Weissenburger) for Outstanding Achievement.
Past concerts include the operas La Bohème, Un ballo in maschera, Tosca, Turandot, Boris Godunow, The Queen of Spades, The Night of the Rose, Carmen, Puss in Boots, or the Nutcracker ballet, along with current concert repertoires. The Children’s Choir of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden has also toured individually and with opera houses to France, Poland, Czech Republic, Luxemburg, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Vietnam, China, Argentina and the U.S.A.
The choir has collaborated with the Berlin Philharmony and Sir Simon Rattle on a concert performance and the recording of a CD of Bizet’s Carmen. In May 2014 the Children’s Choir of the City Opera will be recognized with Geschwister-Mendelssohn-Medallion of the Berliner Choir Union. On the 1st of June 2014 the Choir appeared before more than ten thousand visitors in the prelude of “City Opera for All” at Bebelplatz.
