ABOUT DOORTJE PETERS
Doortje Peters is a multidisciplinary tapdance artist from Amsterdam.
She started rhythm tap at the age of 6, under guidance of Marike
Hetjes. Growing up, Doortje would frequently visit international
festivals where tap greats such as Michelle Dorrance, Chloë Arnold,
Jason Samuels Smith and Sam Weber would intensively teach her the many
aspects of tap. Doortje is currently a dance tutor of various levels
at the Amsterdam Dance Centre and Studio Frankies. As of 2017 she is
also part of a unique water spectacle MARE, under name of Theater
group Vis à Vis. With her company called Tappin-It Collective, she
creates short, explosive acts, as well as theatrical tap shows where
she combines tap with mime and percussion. Doortje uses tapdance as a
percussion instrument. This angle of approach returns frequently in
her lessons, and will also have the main focus during the upcoming
