Abstract:
How do people interact with healthcare robots in the lab, in the home, and in healthcare settings? Elizabeth’s research into social robotics examines people’s feelings of companionship with robots, the health benefits of robots, and what concerns need to be considered with the use of this technology.
Biography:
Professor Elizabeth Broadbent obtained an Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Canterbury University, and an MSc and PhD in Health Psychology from the University of Auckland. Her research interests include human-robot interaction, embodied cognition, illness perceptions, and the effects of stress on wound healing. Elizabeth was a visiting academic at the School of Psychology at Harvard University and at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and obtained a Fulbright award to study companion robots.
