Richmond Wandera was born and raised in the Ngaruru slum in Uganda.
When his father was tragically murdered, Richmond lost all hope of a
life worth living. Alongside his mother, he was left to care for his
six siblings and spent countless days wandering in search of food for
his family. When he was taken into the Compassion programme and
sponsored by Heather, a 15 year old student. Richmond began to see his
life differently. The financial support, love, education and
healthcare that Richmond received enabled him to begin a relationship
with God and reach his full potential. After finishing school,
Richmond was selected to enter the Compassion Leadership Development
Programme and was able to gain a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He
then won a scholarship and went on to complete a master’s degree in
theology. He has since worked to provide free training for pastors in
Uganda and founded the Pastors’ Discipleship Network program which
has created mentoring relationships between pastors in America and
over 3000 pastors in Uganda! Richmond is now a sought after preacher
and speaker and has shared his remarkable story across the world at
different churches and conferences. He is married and enjoys spending
time with his wife, Rosette.
