_Elivigar sails on through the swirling mists to Asgard, home of the
gods, afterlife of the brave, and foreboding peril._With Summer’s
blessing on Jotunnheim, the Skyldings found old friends and ancient
foes. Triumphantly smashing the Jotunnbound of Utgardr, and melting
the everliving ice in the hearts of their servants, they freed the
Varg from generations of slavery. The fortress now lies in their hands
and their Varg-blooded children, and they have offered a safe haven
for any Skyldings who need a place to land.
Despite their victory all is not well in the nine worlds.
The fate of Skyldingheim itself was revealed to lie with the self
proclaimed “rightful Jarl of the Skylds” Olga Solveigsdotter. To
protect her people, the eldest ‘Star of Myrra’ has allied with the
ancient enemy - the Wylfings. She is the champion of those left
behind, a broken people under the yoke of the Wylfings, and she has
branded the Skyldings of Elivigar cowards. Now the curse from the
dying lips of Thrain has fallen upon the home of our heroes, who chose
to quest forward over returning home in hopes of a brighter future for
Skyldingheim.
Elsa Brynasdotter of the Wylfings, and her son Jarl Geir Elsasson, are
itching for revenge. They have claimed the child Wylf, son of Arnvi
Synsdotter, rightfully theirs, and called for his capture at the last
stand of Vargheim. Their thirst will not be quenched until the rivers
run with Skylding blood.
Fighting at their side came the elves under Triandel, high councillor
of the Ljosalfar, leading her army from the front. No blade or arrow
seemed to blemish her golden skin, as she waded through the Skylding
ranks, seeking out the babe Peska, now grown, and named “Skylda”
for the runes that are mysteriously inscribed upon her skin.
Skylda herself, the child of prophecy, stood fearless on the front
line with her people. An ancient tablet newly recovered from some
ruins on Jotunnheim revealed the destiny that lay on her shoulders,
and names the Skyldings “Aesir’s true servants”, those with the
power to change the “fortune and fate” of the nine worlds.
That is if the Skyldings of Elivigar can survive the doomed vision
pronounced from the lips of Aelfhun the seer to all she looked upon:
“_If you go to Asgard, you will die._”
But go they must, for the Valkyrie Astrid heralded that the gods
themselves have awoken on Asgard, and the time is at hand for their
true servants to join them.
