MICRO:BITChildren’s experimental skills will be tested to the max
using micro:bit in working on a temperature detector attached to a
mini-fan. This gadget is programmed to monitor room temperature and
automatically activate itself when presented with specified
conditions. This is done using a controller board, adapted by
programming code to display a reaction to pre-defined temperature
settings. To achieve the desired outcomes, children have to modify
their paradigms, thinking, attitudes and behaviors as they experiment
with a host of variables to reach their target. No prior experience
required
This course will provide children with:
– opportunities to test experimental outcomes, thus laying
foundational much-desired research skills
– trial and error problem-solving opportunities leading towards
knowledge creation efficacy resulting in the creation of new and
useful knowledge
– goal-setting and independent study skills as they are challenged
towards reaching a target
Space Ship mMicro:bit is designed as an educational and creative tool
to encourage children to engage in software writing. It comes a
controller kit. The wonders of the micro:bit are tremendous resulting
in many novel creations such as games and robotic helpers.
How do we at KidsCode impart our knowledge to your child?
* We guide your child through step-by-step exercises to create the
temperature detector project
* After which we get them to rebuild this project or do a slight
variation of it
* We then leave them to build a simple new project from scratch
* We get them to work on this new project without any guidance
* We repeat the process to instill confidence and familiarity
This recursive training method helps to instill the basics of coder
and maker, the sense of adventure and the confidence to explore new
ways to code or explore other purposes for micro:bit even after the
course has been completed!
