NEWS FROM GAZA In this session we will talk direct with activists in
Gaza about the one-year anniversary of the Great Return March protests
and what it means for the future. Palestinians have staged weekly
protests near the Gaza border with Israel as part of the Great March
of Return protests, which began in March 2018. The demonstrators are
calling for the lifting of an Israeli-Egyptian blockade imposed on
Gaza since 2007 and for the right to return to their ancestral homes
in Israel, as stipulated in UN Resolution 194. In the year since the
weekly protests started, some 200 Palestinians have been killed, and
more than 6,300 have been injured by live ammunition. In commemoration
of Land Day and the one-year anniversary of the start of the Great
Return March protests in the Gaza Strip, 30 March, AFOPA will host a
special online meeting to hear from correspondent and translator,
Akram Al Satarri, about the current situation in Gaza. You may join
this meeting in person (Adelaide) or online (connection details will
be forwarded). FREE EVENT - LIMITED SEATS - RSVP ESSENTIAL - for AFOPA
members only, plus one guest. Please RSVP online or call (+61) 08 8232
5273 (Mon-Fri, business hours).
