Join MTSS and WISTA SINGAPORE FOR A FUN AND EXCITING NIGHT OF 'STREET'
NETBALL. Mixed gender teams and no experience is necessary! Companies
and organisations from all sectors will come together to form netball
teams in order to compete in fun and social 4 v 4 street netball games
raising money for The Mission to Seafarers Singapore (MTSS). In
partnership with WISTA, this event will involve both men and women –
many of whom will have never played netball before, in the aim of
winning the tournament trophy and having fun.
Early bird: $300 per team (+ booking fee).
Please note: The carnival will be played on the OUTDOOR courts at
Singapore Cricket Club. In the event of a rainy day – do not worry
– we have an indoor contingency plan which will be just as exciting
as the netball, so please come to the SCC as planned for a great night
out.
Carnival format
The tournament will be played in 2 stages.
Stage 1 – round robin competition
• Teams will be divided into groups and matches will be played in a
round robin format.
• Games will last 5-7 minutes long (to be determined once we have
confirmed the number of teams entered) and umpired by a qualified
umpire.
• Teams who win their game receive two points, those who draw
receive one point and those who lose will receive zero points.
• In the event of a tie on points at the end of group stage, the
result of the game between the two teams will decide the winner. If
the two teams drew their match, or if more than two teams have the
same number of points at the end of the pool rounds, goal average of
the pool games will decide the placings (i.e. goals for divided by
goals against). If goal average is identical, then goal difference
will be applied (i.e. the difference between goals for and goals
against)
• The top two teams in each group will progress to Stage 2 –
Trophy. All remaining teams will go into Stage 2 - Plate.
Stage 2 - Trophy
• The top two teams from each group will be drawn into an
elimination format to determine the overall trophy winners. The group
winners shall meet a runner-up from another group.
• A third/fourth place playoff will also take place to determine the
top three teams on the night.
• If a match in stage 2 Trophy ends in a draw, extra time for two
minutes will be played. If the game is still drawn at the end of these
two minutes, a penalty shoot out will be played.
• Overall tournament winners, second place and third place teams
will be awarded a trophy during the prize giving ceremony after the
matches have been played. This will take place in the Padang
Restaurant of the SCC.
Stage 2 – Plate
• The remaining teams from each group will be placed into a plate
knockout competition, guaranteeing teams at least one more match.
• Teams and schedule will be drawn on event night, but if needed,
the highest ranked teams (from stage 1) will be given a buy into the
next round.
• Plate winners and runners up will be presented with a trophy
during the prize giving ceremony after the matches have been played.
This will take place in the Padang Restaurant of the SCC.
