Treetop Flyers, who won the Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent
Competition in 2011, are a three piece folk, americana, call it what
you will, band from London. If your thing is the 70’s West Coast
sound then you’re in for an absolute treat. The two and three part
harmonies throughout are beautiful and complement each other
perfectly, it’s a lovely lush sound with lead singer Reid
Morrison’s voice giving them a wonderful soulful edge. But the last
few years have not been kind to the band, it’s been a case of
needing to fall apart, in order to rebuild, and come back stronger;
grief for lost parents, broken marriages, the near-death of a close
friend and the loss of numerous behind-the-scenes personnel led to a
prolonged period of upheaval. The making of their last, critically
acclaimed, album, Palamino, provided the necessary therapy, bringing
the core of the band closer together, and seeing them dragging
themselves to their feet once more, bloodied but unbowed. Treetop
Flyers have emerged triumphant from the most turbulent of times, as
their spine-tingling live performances attest.
