Description About the Alabama Greek Picnic: The Alabama Greek Picnic
is a new, highly anticipated summer event designed to provide Alabama
members of the Pan-Hellenic Council a unique experience to unite,
fellowship, and network in a central location. The Alabama Greek
Picnic will provide Divine 9 members and their guests a weekend full
of events, including a major service project, comedy show, family fun,
stroll competition, nightlife entertainment, and worship. We are very
excited to bring to the city of Birmingham, AL the 2nd Annual Alabama
Greek Picnic. Although staged in the beautiful state of Alabama, this
event is sure to become a favorite amongst members of all Black Greek
Lettered Organizations from across the nation. Why be part of the
Alabama Greek Picnic? Alabama is home to over 60 colleges and
universities, including nine HBCUs. Students travel from all around to
world to attend Alabama’s prestigious colleges. For this reason,
undergraduates by the 100,000s have had the privilege to be initiated
in the state of Alabama. In addition, there are hundreds of graduate
chapters, representing all Divine 9 organizations, which are located
throughout the state. Charles Linn Park, centrally located at the
municipal center of downtown Birmingham. As Birmingham's primary
civic space, Linn Park contains numerous monuments and memorials, and
hosts several public events such as the Birmingham Christmas
tree lighting ceremony, the Magic City Art Connection, Magic City
Blues Fest, and City Stages. This “garden in the city” is bounded
by 20th St. N. and the Birmingham City Hall to the west, Park Place
to the south, 8th Ave. N., with Boutwell Auditorium, and the
Birmingham Museum of Art to the north, and the Jefferson County
Courthouse to the east.
