SESSION #2 How do you experience stress?
_The purpose of this session will be to discuss stress and sleep.
Participants will leave the session understanding the importance of
managing both of these areas of their lives and an understanding of
how to employ best practices day-to-day. They will be encouraged to
identify what their unique indicators of stress are and brainstorm
coping strategies for how to deal with it when it arises. _ _
_ _Participants will also understand not only what mindfulness is and
why it is important but how to practice it in their daily lives.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice different forms of
meditation and breathing, so that they can choose what is best for
them._ This session will be lead by Sarena Martinez. Sarena Martinez
is a 2017 Venture for America fellow and serves the Manager of Special
Projects in the new Department of Innovation and Economic Opportunity
at the City of Birmingham. Sarena graduated from Vanderbilt in 2016
with a Bachelor's in Psychology and French. Throughout her
undergraduate career, she spent time focused on improving the mental
health of students and helped launch the Vanderbilt University Chapter
of Active Minds.
