We cordially invite you to participate as a sponsor of our first-ever Helping Hands 5K Dash to Self-Sufficiency. This event will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Railroad Park in Birmingham, Alabama. The race will begin with on-site registration at 7:00 a.m and the run/walk begins at 8:30. All proceeds from the event support the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District and the Naomi H. Truman Scholarship Foundation. This race will benefit community-based programs of HABD's Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program, Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Program, Community Engagement, and The Naomi H. Truman Scholarship Foundation. ‘Self-sufficiency’ is the quality of feeling secure and content with yourself, a deep-rooted sense of inner completeness and stability. The community-based programs will increase someone's self-awareness based on fundamental and systematic concerns of the community and undertake why changes in life will not be a fly-by-night fad, but rather a long-lasting means for personal independence. This campaign enables hundreds of families, who would otherwise not have the opportunity, to experience the joys of programs and resources to empower them to become self-sufficient
