BOOKING IT Through the Bluff - Hokes Bluff, AL 2022

The HOKES BLUFF LIBRARY FOUNDATION AND OUR CO-Sponsors: HOKES BLUFF LIONS CLUB AND TAWANNA LIONS CLUB, invite everyone to join us as we go "BOOKIN IT" THROUGH THE BLUFF ON APRIL 23RD BEGINNING AT 8:00am. The race will be an exciting triathlon totaling 42 kilometers starting at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. Athletes will begin with a 5K run THROUGH THE STREETS OF HOKES BLUFF TO HOKES BLUFF FERRY ROAD. Then participants will kayak almost 4.5K with the current on the Coosa River until they reach the designated landing spot at the Veranda Trace boat ramp. The race will continue, as the challengers complete a vigorous 32.4K cycle THROUGH EASTERN ETOWAH COUNTY TO THE FINISH LINE AT THE HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. The race can be completed by an individual athlete or group teams of two or three. 10K ONLY course will make a loop, starting and finishing at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. ALL proceeds go to the HOKES BLUFF LIBRARY FOUNDATION. Triathlon minimum age requirement - 14 years old Event details and schedule RACE START TIME: 10K Only - 8:00am Triathlon - 8:30am ARRIVE EARLY to allow time for check-in and placing bike at Veranda Trace staging area. Packet Pickup will be open on race day starting at 6:00am. HOST HOTEL with special pricing - more information to come. RACE COST: Triathlon - $50.00 Triathlon (Team of 2) - $90.00 Triathlon (Team of 3) - $125.00 10K ONLY - $30.00 KAYAK RENTAL OPTION - $30.00 BIG advantage to renting kayak a head of time is the kayak co. will have your kayak numbered and ready for you at the water when you finish the 10K run, otherwise, you will be responsible for getting your kayak from staging area to the water. All TRIATHLON participants are required to be wearing life jackets before kayaks enter the water. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Triathlon: 1st leg kicks off with a 5K run, goes THROUGH BEAUTIFUL SECTION OF TOWN AND FINISHES ON FERRY ROAD WHICH DEADENDS AT THE COOSA RIVER. The 2nd leg is a kayak trip downstream on the Coosa River for approximately a 4.5K paddle. You will exit the Coosa River at the Veranda Trace boat ramp for your final leg on the bike. You will ride for 32.4K on county back roads with very little trasffic and less than a mile on main Road. You finish back at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. 5K (triathlon): Pleasant run THROUGH FARMING COMMUNITY ON COUNTY ROADS. Shaded rolling hills, mostly flat, with over a half mile down hill to the finish! KAYAK (triathlon): 4.5K distance paddling with current. There will be 4 fire department safety boats along the river for your assistance. BIKE (triathlon): 32.4K there will be a hydration station at the halfway point on Tom Cat Road. Gadsden Outfitters will supply a sag wagon on tri route with some limited bike repair on course. 10K ONLY: will make a loop, starting and finishing at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. There will be a hydration station at the halfway point. RACE DAY REGISTRATION: You may register on the the day of the event at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER FROM 6:00am to 7:45am. PACKET PICKUP: Registration packets can be picked up Friday, April 23rd at the HOKES BLUFF PUBLIC LIBRARY FROM 4:00pm - 6:30pm or race day beginning at 6:00am at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. TSHIRTS: All participants are guarenteed a dry blend race Tshirt if registered by April 9th. AWARDS: CUSTOM Handmade Wood Medals for Age Group winners! See picture below. TRIATHLON: Overall Male/Female; Male/Female AGE GROUPS 3 Deep:15 and Under, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and Up. TRIATHLON TEAMS: Male/Female/Co-Ed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each catagory. ALL Triathlon participants will receive a beautiful custom die cast finishing medal! (see picture below) 10K: Male/Female Top 3; Age Group 3 Deep: 10 and Under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-.24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60 and Up. AWARDS CEREMONY: 10K - beginning at 9:15am outside of the gazebo at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER. Triathlon - beginning at approximately Noon-12:15pm outside of the gazebo at the HOKES BLUFF COMMUNITY CENTER.
