The Alabama Shakespeare Festival (ASF) is one of the United States’
leading professional regional theatres. Founded in 1972, it stages
multiple productions every year—often 6-9 main shows— including
Shakespeare classics, musicals, contemporary plays, and new works. It
also has strong educational and outreach programs (school matinees,
camps, lectures), plus the Southern Writers Project which supports new
plays with Southern themes.
