Each workshop will focus on different WATERCOLOR TECHNIQUES TO EFFECTIVELY CHRONICLE YOUR GARDEN EXPERIENCE. SATURDAY AUGUST 18TH: GARDEN COLOR STUDIES WITH WATERCOLOR We’ll record careful observations of garden flora COLORS WITHIN THE PAGES OF OUR FIELD JOURNALS. Step-by-step exercises will build a reference source for COLOR MIXING AND PAINTING STRATEGIES FOR FUTURE INSPIRATION. No previous art experience is required. SUNDAY AUGUST 19TH: BOTANICAL STUDIES WITH WATERCOLOR Building on Saturday’s COLOR STUDIES, students will learn effective steps to reveal botanical form and detail using WATERCOLOR, gouache, and COLORED PENCIL. All will leave inspired to continue exploration in the JOURNAL OR IN other forms. Saturday’s COLOR STUDIES CLASS OR PREVIOUS COLOR MIXING EXPERIENCE IS HELPFUL, but not required. INSTRUCTOR: ANDIE THRAMS Andie Thrams is a California-based visual artist working in painting and the book arts. A lifelong devotion to creative work in wilderness locations, especially within the pages of her FIELD JOURNALS, has evolved into a unique approach to art and teaching that explore mystery, reverence and vanishing habitats. Her work is widely exhibited, has been honored by institutions including Sitka Center for Art & Ecology and Yosemite Renaissance, and is held in numerous collections, including Yale University and University of Washington. She earned a BA in art practice from the University of California Berkeley and teaches for San Francisco Center for the Book, San Francisco State University Sierra Nevada FIELD CAMPUS, and more.
