ROSSINI The Thieving Magpie Overture VIVIAN FUNG Trumpet Concerto
(Musica Nova Commission) DEBUSSY Général Lavine, Rêverie, and
Golliwog’s Cakewalk VIVALDI Gloria One of Rossini’s most memorable
and exciting opera overtures, The Thieving Magpie opens with an
aggressive and militaristic theme followed by the drama and intrigue
surrounding the theft of a silver spoon. This year's Musica Nova
composer,Vivian Fung,is an award-winning composer with a unique talent
for combining idiosyncratic textures and styles into large-scale
works, reflecting her multicultural background. Her new Trumpet
Concerto features Classical Trumpeter and award-winningMary Elizabeth
Bowden. Vivaldi's Gloria is one of sacred music's most uplifting
choral works. We are thrilled to share the stage with three stellar
local soloists and Concert Choirs from four area high schools. Website
