ADEQ’s Operator Certification Program establishes guidelines to
ensure that only certified operators make decisions about process
control or system integrity that affects public health. The program
establishes minimum standards for certification and re-certification
of the operators of drinking water and wastewater systems.
Operators must hold the lower grade level certificate for one full
year (365 days from your effective date), prior to sitting for the
next grade level exam. Operators may check the effective date of
their certificate(s) by using the Operator Certification Database
(http://legacy.azdeq.gov/databases/opcertsearch.html) .
TESTING EARLY (before 365 days from your effective date) requires ADEQ
approval prior to sitting for the exam. Use the Operator
Certification Early Exam Application (http://www.azdeq.gov/node/642 )
to begin this review process.
