Description FLAG FOOTBALL: The Flag Football program is designed to
educate youth about football while emphasizing development in
teamwork, participation, and sportsmanship. Players learn skills and
lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field. The program
provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in
non- contact, continuous action while developing the skills necessary
to become successful players. PHILOSOPHY: The City of Goodyear
Recreation Division strives to provide a positive recreational youth
sports experience for players that will develop a youngsters physical,
mental, emotional, and social well being. We consider youth sports to
be a vital part of the educational process of children which teaches
teamwork, respect, sportsmanship and fun. Our goal is to provide the
best possible youth sports environment through experienced and
dedicated professional staff, trained instructors/coaches and educated
parents who desire and promote a positive youth sports experience for
all children. RECREATIONAL LEAGUE: Football participants and their
parents will experience quality programming, fundamental instruction
by coaches and the City of Goodyear Recreation Division. Our program
gives players the opportunity to learn the proper techniques to
mastering some of the games most used skills. This RECREATIONAL league
will focus less on competition and winning with an emphasis of
learning the basic fundamentals and developing a love for the game.
Coaching will address the fundamental techniques of, quickness and eye
and hand coordination that will be developed throughout the season.
Open Registration: September 2 - November 29 Late Registration:
November 30 - December 20 or until filled (Special Requests will not
be accepted during late registration) Participant's age is determined
as of January 4, 2020. Playing up is not allowed in this division.
Practice: Practice begins the week of December 16, 2019 and are held
Monday - Friday between 5pm and 9pm. Practice days/times will be
selected by the Head Coach at the coach's meeting. Once Games begin
practices will go to once a week. The coach will contact players the
week of December 9-13, if you have not heard from your coach by
December 13, please call the recreation office at 623-882-7525 to
obtain team information. Players are placed on teams by geographic
area and may not always match special request for coach, teammates or
a preferred practice schedule. Games: Games are on Saturdays between
8am and 4pm. Games begin January 4, and run through February 22, 2020,
and will be located at the Goodyear Community Park and Foothills
Community Park. Games schedules will be distributed after the first
week of practice. Registration includes mouth guard and team shirt.
Players are responsible for pocket-less shorts/pants and shoes. NO
