This class is an intermediate level class but easy to follow even if
you are a beginner. In this class, you will learn an easy
bloomy-rind cheese called Brie. Brie looks quite scary to make with
that white bloomy covering, but it's actually quite easy. You will
learn, hands on, how to make a tasty bloomy rind while we learn and
taste the differences of this type of cheese.
In this class we will focus on a BLOOMY RIND CHEESE. Although
complex-flavored, it is relatively easy to make. This CHEESE IS BEST
KNOWN FOR ITS WHITE BLOOMY EXTERIOR AND RICH, creamy center. You will
be in groups of 5 and LEARN TO FINESSE A GALLON OF MILK INTO CHEESE.
We will begin the class making Brie from fresh milk and create a
CHEESE WHEEL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE IN CLASS. While our milk is
ripening we will discuss and TASTE the differences of a variety of
BLOOMY RIND CHEESES. We will also be going over how to age our CHEESE
AT HOME AND WHAT TO EXPECT DURING OUR AGING DAYS TO COME AND WHEN TO
EXPECT TO HAVE A FINISHED PRODUCT TO EAT.
During your experience in this class, you will LEARN SIMPLE TECHNIQUES
IN CHEESE MAKING THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS USE. We will also be discussing
the best wine & beer pairings that go with this CHEESE. Not only is
this class fun, you will walk away with the desire to LEARN MORE ABOUT
MAKING HOME-made CHEESES. You will leave the class with your own
copies of the recipe of the CHEESE WE MAKE AND THE KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE
YOUR OWN CHEESE AT HOME. Appetizers & beverages are available for
purchase at this venue.
