This July, Arizona Science Center is celebrating one of the greatest human achievements in science – the 50th anniversary of human’s first steps on the moon! Tuesday, July 16, is exactly 50 years after the Saturn V rocket launched from Cape Kennedy carrying Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin on their mission to the moon. To commemorate this historic occasion, we’re participating in a global rocket launch coordinated by the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. At 12:50 p.m., outside CREATE at Arizona Science Center, we’ll launch more than 100 rockets built by campers in CAMP INNOVATION summer camp program. Guests are also invited to build and launch rockets in CREATE throughout the day. Rocket launches will be coordinated hourly on the 50 minute mark from 10:50 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.
