_THIS WALK WAS ORGANIZED TO HONOR A YOUNG, EOE FIGHTER NAMED HENRY AND
ALL THE OTHER PATIENTS AND FAMILIES IN ARIZONA STRUGGLING WITH
EOSINOPHILIC DISORDERS._
_ A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM HENRY'S PARENTS, Kelly & Justin:
_
Snuggled in his jammies while watching the “Toy Story” Pizza
Planet car chase for the hundredth time, Henry asks, “Momma, can I
eat pizza?” Mom answers back quietly, “No baby, you
can’t.” Henry is 18 months old and
has never tasted pizza. He’s also missed out on birthday
cake, Christmas cookies and his grandma’s macaroni and
cheese. When he tries to eat, he gets very sick.
After vomiting multiple times a day since birth, Henry had his first
endoscopy at 13 months of age and was diagnosed with Eosinophilic
Esophagitis (EoE), a chronic allergic inflammatory disease of the
esophagus. EoE causes the esophagus to swell, making it
very difficult, if not impossible, to eat. EoE can result in slow
growth and chronic pain and in severe cases some have to rely on a
gastronomy tube for their daily sustenance. Henry is currently living
on a formula-based diet and is in constant discomfort.
Though Henry isn’t able to have the foods most of us take for
granted, what he does have is hope. Hope that we can find a
treatment for EoE that will help children like him live healthy
lives, free from the pain of EoE. We’d love to have your help in
making this dream come true.
Please join us for - Hope on the Horizon - Scottsdale, AZ
The great thing about kids is that they help us remember how
important hope is to all of us. Thank you for helping us raise
awareness of EoE and bringing us closer to a successful treatment.
All our kids deserve a chance to dream and, as Woody would say,
“Reach for the stars!”
