USGBC Arizona presents an overview of Parksmart, the sustainable
rating system that measures sustainable practices for parking
structures. Parking structures are not eligible to receive LEED
Certification, so Parksmart provides an avenue for owners and
operators to systematically target sustainable strategies for an
environmentally responsible approach to their facilities and
operations. It also provides an avenue for those successful owners and
operators to be recognized for their environmentally responsible
facilities and operations. This presentation will be given by three
accredited Parksmart Advisors with different perspectives:
MICHAEL SCHMITT, AIA, LEED-AP represents DFDG Architecture, a Phoenix
based architectural firm, well known for the design of parking
structures. J. C. PORTER represents ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY, Parking
and Transportation Services, who have committed to PARKSMART
CERTIFICATION OF THEIR LARGE CAMPUS OPERATION, which includes many
parking structures. DAWN ROGERS represents PK Associates, a
consulting structural engineer firm.
Attendees will learn:

2. An overview of the Parksmart Certification Standard and its
Measures.
3. Various viewpoints on why Parksmart is important.
4. How and why one should consider becoming a Parksmart Advisor.
