ITEMS SAVED FROM THE LANDFILL: yarn, canvas, tools
SKILLS LEARNED: latch hookingLatch hook: (n.) handheld tool similar to
a latch needle, used for drawing loops of yarn through canvas or
similar material to make rugs and the like.
Latch hooking is a fun and relaxing craft in which segments of yarn
are knotted to a canvas grid with a latch hook tool. A finished piece
can be used to make small rug, wall hanging, or pillow.
In the spirit of creative reuse, students will learn about different
options for creating a canvas, and how to use up yarn ends! Students
will also learn how to transfer a design, how to work the latch hook
tool, and how make your latch hook knot. There will be time to work on
your uniqe designs in class.
