Works by Veracini, Porpora, Vivaldi, and Geminiani Cal Performances
audiences first heard the "pure, radiant voice" (Los Angeles Times) of
the sensational countertenor Philippe Jaroussky in his thrilling
performance with the ensemble Apollo's Fire two seasons ago. Now he
joins the illustrious Venice Baroque Orchestra for a selection of
arias by Baroque composer Nicola Porpora, whose most famous protégé
was the castrato Farinelli. The orchestra, "a superbly polished
period-instrument group known for its fresh, zesty Vivaldi" (New York
Times), also plays a rich assortment of instrumental works by Vivaldi,
Veracini, and Geminiani.
