If the front of the body can relax then the back can, and visa-versa.
You will be doing one thing with one hand and another with the other.
Over and under Techniques rely on one simple truth: When the front of
the body is able to relax the back can too! (And, visa-versa!)
In this course, you will learn to use one hand on the top body while
working the back body with the other hand and a completely different
move. For example, you will learn to hold a tension spot on the pecs
(under) while working the scapula (over) at the same time. Since these
spots are connected, you will feel the tissue change in both spots.
What’s more, since the client won’t be able to stay focused on
what you’re doing, the mind will let go and truly relax, allowing
the ultimate release to occur. This approach can be integrated into
your sessions by using your favorite existing techniques.
An 80-year-old client once said, “I felt held like a little baby
during your massage.” Over and under techniques are some of the most
comforting moves we can offer as therapists.
In this class we will cover:
* easy to access places to work over and under
* holding an acupressure point on one side while massaging the other
* utilizing gravity to work under the body
* how to bring safety and comfort into our hands
* how to confuse the mind so it completely let’s go -- the body
naturally follows
The class will focus on face-up scapula and pecs, hamstrings and quad,
low back and tummy. Face-down quad and low back, pecs, and scapula to
triceps.
