If there’s anyone who embodies the liveliness and ebullient joy of
18th-century music, it’s Nicholas McGegan, “one of the finest
baroque conductors of his generation” (London Independent). Having
conducted The Four Seasons countless times, McGegan says it never
fails to captivate listeners with its familiar scenes set to
ear-catching melodies: “It’s great to hear [Vivaldi] imitate bird
songs or rivers or fountains or the summer bugs—they’re still with
us—and the stomping of feet and skating are things that people still
do. He had a wonderful way of turning these things into music, and
memorable music at that.”
