Free community Fiction WORKSHOP For anyone interested in the literary
expression of the lived experiences of communities of color, come join
in on this one day discussion and writing in fiction. Participants
will produce and share their own creative writing. Led by novelist
Joseph Cassara. No Perquisites. Any Experience Level Welcomed
Joseph Cassara is the author of the critically-acclaimed novel The
House of Impossible Beauties (Ecco/HarperCollins, 2018), which won
the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction, He holds a BA in English &
Comparative Literature from Columbia University and an MFA in Fiction
from the Iowa Writers' Workshop. He is currently an assistant
professor in the MFA Creative Writing Program at Fresno State.
Live, Write is an organization committed to promoting launching
biannual readings for writers of color to read their polished work
before a live audience. Live, Write was envisioned as a place of
comfort, integration and courage due to both the scant presence of
WOCs in literary communities specifically across the university
classroom spectrum, and the sometimes discouraging experiences
expressed by WOCs.
