Annual Holiday Dog Walk and Picnic in Newport Beach

ABOUT THE HIKE: Fido will love this opportunity to deliver his/her gift list to Santa. Join Schatzi and Randy on this spectacular two plus mile beginner hike through the NEWPORT BEACH CIVIC CENTER PARK AND NEWPORT CENTER FASHION ISLAND. We meetup at the NEWPORT BEACH LIBRARY ENTRANCE.... walk through the $135 million City Hall complex with its architecturally amazing ocean wave roof line.... into the Civic Center open space with its sculpture garden and DOG Park (a 10/15 minute stop here for a run around the park).... taking San Miguel on the sidewalk into Fashion Island.... window shopping in a loop walk past the shops with stops for photo ops at the Christmas tree, Santa's house, and various HOLIDAY DECORATIONS.... returning on San Miguel to the Library and adjacent PICNIC TABLES FOR OUR PICNIC LUNCH. This walk is a SPECTACULAR urban journey for both two and four legged hikers. This hike is leashed/socialized dog friendly!ADDITIONAL NOTE: This event is open to all hikers that love dogs. Please feel free to join this amazing BEGINNER hike, with or without a dog. ABOUT THE PICNIC: This will be a potluck holiday lunch with picnic items coming out of cars using tables located near the library entrance. Restrooms are available inside the Library. Please bring food to share for both humans and critters. BYOB (beverage) This may be an alcohol restricted area so we will exercise adult discretion. Egg nog and some beverages with bubbles will be acceptable. DRIVING DIRECTIONS: From the 405 Freeway.... take the MacArthur exit heading toward Newport Beach.... turn right on Pacific Coast Highway.... turn right on Avocado.... turn right into the shopping center/library parking with an immediate left up to the library entrance.... additional overflow parking can be found in the city hall parking structure with entry on the right side of the library.
