It's a show devoted to the tradition of CLASSIC BURLESQUE. Not to be
confused with shows performed today, CLASSIC BURLESQUE WAS AN ORIGINAL
AMERICAN THEATRICAL FORM THAT FEATURED COMEDY, dancing, singing, live
instrumental music and of course, the Strip Tease. This theatrical
form was hugely popular during the 1920's, 30's and 40's.The 1943
feature film LADY OF BURLESQUE will be screened uncut starring Barbara
Stanwyck. Based on Gypsy Rose Lee's novel, THE G-STRING MURDERS.
The Plot: After one member of their group is murdered, the performers
at a burlesque house must work together to find out who the killer is
before they strike again.
PLUS SELECTED SHORT SUBJECTS: Short films featuring famous Burlesque
performers such as Betty Page, Sally Rand and Tempest Storm. Sally
Rand's world famous Fan Dance will be seen as it was performed at the
1934 Chicago World's Fair.
This show will be introduced by film historian Chris Perry.
The Bijou opens at 6:30pm.

DIRECTIONS COMING FROM THE LOW DESERT: From Hwy 10, take Hwy 62 north
until you reach Yucca Valley. Once you are in Yucca Valley take a
right at the second stoplight(Kickapoo Trail) and go 2 blocks to the
stop sign(Onaga Trail) where you take a left. Go 2.8 miles and you are
there. You will see the Bijou sign in front.
