This course will provide hands-on activities to support professionals
in building play THERAPY SKILLS AND STRATEGIES TO ENHANCE RESILIENCE
IN YOUNG CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS. The concept of RESILIENCE, growth
mindset and adaptability as it relates to play and play THERAPY WILL
BE EXPLORED. This intervention-heavy course will build professional
confidence in using play to address common childhood
issues/challenges. Documenting/charting these activities will be
reviewed. WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This intermediate workshop is designed for therapists working with
children and families.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
1. Identify the 7 domains of resilience.
2. Identify 2 play activities to promote resilience
3. Identify 2 play therapy strategies to enhance intrinsic motivation
4. Explain the connection between play and self-awareness and
confidence.
5. Identify 2 playful mindfulness strategies to promote the growth
mindset.

12:45-2:00pm: Play activities and strategies to build confidence,
self-awareness and intrinsic motivation

2:15-4:30: Play, mindfulness, and kinesthetic activities
Julie Torok-Mangasarian, LMFT, RPT-S is a licensed marriage and family
therapist and the Clinical Director of the California Psychological
Institute in Fresno, CA. Julie is a Registered Play
Therapist/Supervisor, infant mental health specialist, reflective
practice mentor and certified educator of infant massage (CEIM). Julie
is a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals.
Julie specializes in use of play to treat complex and developmental
trauma in young children. She also recently became a Certified Mental
Health Integrative Medicine Provider.
CE’s: This workshop is co-sponsored by Julie Torok-Mangasarian and
Solace Center Wellness. Attendance to this training meets the
qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for
LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s and/or LEP’s as required by the
California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Prov. # 76629. Certificate of
Completion will be handing out at time of sign out. You must be
present for the entire training and sign in and out on the sign in
sheet, in order to receive your CEU certificate.
This workshop meets the qualifications for 6.0 hours of continuing
education as required by the Association for Play Therapy (APT).
Solace Center Wellness is approved by APT to offer continuing
education specific to play therapy (provider # 17-521).
