Professor Chris Powers and Dr. Chad Waterbury will be teaching an
evidence-based course that covers the latest strategies for developing
strength and power in key muscle groups within the lower extremity and
trunk.
The information you'll learn will apply to both athletic and general
populations. Emphasis will be placed on exercise prescription and
progression to optimize lower extremity and trunk function. Key
concepts will be reinforced with practical lab experiences at the
world-renowned Movement Performance Institute.

8:30-10:00am: The role of muscle performance in normal/abnormal
function of the lower extremity (Powers)
10:00-10:15am: Break
10:15-12:00pm: Fundamentals of exercise prescription and progression:
a biomechanical perspective (Powers)
12:00-1:00pm: Lunch
1:00-2:00pm: Programming guidelines to improve strength and power
(Waterbury)
2:00-3:00pm: Exercises to improve strength of the lower extremity

3:00-3:15pm: Break
3:15-4:00pm: Exercises to improve strength of the trunk/core

4:00-4:30pm: How to program and coach plyometric training (Waterbury)
4:30-5:00pm: EMG analysis of various exercises for the lower extremity

FAQS
Will I receive CEUs for this seminar?
Yes, CEUs will be awarded to trainers/coaches by the National Strength
and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and to physical therapists by the
California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA).
Will the seminar be primarly lecture or hands-on coaching techniques?
It will be a combination of both. Attendees will learn high-level
programming as well as coaching and cueing of novel exercises to
improve strength and power.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the
event?
There is a large parking lot with plenty of spaces in front of the
entrance to the Movement Performance Institute, which is behind
Starbucks on Sepulveda.
Which hotels are nearby for lodging?
The Movement Performance Institute (MPI) is 1/2 mile from the Los
Angeles International (LAX) airport. There are numerous hotel options
in that area. So any hotel in the LAX airport area will be very
convenient.
What are the lunch options?
You can bring food to eat at MPI during the lunch break, or walk to
one of many restaurants on the same block as the facility.
What can I bring into the event?
You can bring any food, beverages, laptops and cell phones.
What's the refund policy?
You can receive a 50% refund until April 11. After April 11 no refunds
will be given.
